ABOUT US
The Open Data Cube (ODC) is a non-profit, open-source initiative designed to revolutionize the management and utilization of satellite Earth Observation (EO) data. Born from the "Unlocking the Landsat Archive" and Australian Geoscience Data Cube projects, ODC addresses the growing need for efficient handling of vast satellite datasets.
The ODC initiative, supported by founding partner CEOS (Committee on Earth Observation Satellites), aims to overcome the challenges of data volume, complexity, and accessibility. By leveraging advanced information technology, we're creating a scalable solution that empowers users worldwide to unlock the full potential of EO data.
Our Mission:
To increase the impact of Earth observation data by providing an open, accessible, and powerful data management and analysis platform.
Key Objectives:
-
Simplify access to and preparation of satellite data
-
Foster a community-driven, open-source ecosystem
-
Enable efficient time series analyses for land change applications
-
Support interoperability of multiple datasets
-
Provide local and regional solutions independent of commercial constraints
-
Build user capacity and support global priority agendas (e.g., UN Sustainable Development Goals)
Join our growing community of contributors and users as we work towards a future where satellite data drives informed decision-making and positive global impact.
